Grains of Paradise, whole

Grains of Paradise are used as a spice to add warmth and depth to dishes such as soups and stews. Popular in the cuisines of West and North Africa, Grains of Paradise belong to the Zingiberaceae family, which is the same botanical family as ginger and cardamom. The seeds develop in pods on the reed-like herbaceous plant native to West Africa and primarily found in swampy habitats and along the coast.
